Reviews
"Unfortunately, the cinematography is the only reason to see Aspen Extreme.
The movie does not possess an abundance of redeeming qualities. Writer/director
Patrick Hasburgh, a ski buff, is unable to put together a convincing story
with real characters. He knows his stuff on the slopes, but this film
tries unsuccessfully to be a lot more. For this, his first effort, he
might have had some success trying for a comedy instead of a drama." -
James Berardinelli (Reel Views, 1996)
"Patrick Hasburgh, who makes his feature-film debut as the writer and
director of "Aspen Extreme," is a ski enthusiast and former instructor
who still knows more about skiing than about movies. Even though it runs
close to two hours, "Aspen Extreme" remains sort of stretched out and
dramatically undeveloped." - Vincent Camby (New York Times)
"The acting's not bad, the skiing is great and the scenery is spectacular. Still, six bucks is a steep price to pay for a travelogue, especially to a place where extreme prejudice has become as threatening as any vertical drop." - Hollis Chacona (The Austin Chronicle, January 1993)
"The players are all appealing and the film is bolstered by some eye-popping ski footage, including a stunningly photographed avalanche. But the story and characters are so dull, and the film is so long (a full and very tedious two hours), that the audience will likely be snoozing before it's over." - Chris Hicks (Desert News Salt Lake City, January 1993)
