  • "Acting aside, the music is worth noting -- what wonderfully bombastic '70s music it is. Both Jimmy Nail and Bill Nighy actually sing in this film, which gives the music scenes real authority and grounds the movie in reality. There is also a very good reason why these original songs sound so authentic. Most of the music was written by Mick Jones, formerly of the band Foreigner, while Chris Difford, from the group Squeeze, wrote the lyrics. To add even more authenticity, Gary Kemp, formerly of Spandau Ballet, coached the actors in rock 'n' roll attitude." - Paul Clinton (CNN.com, January 1999)
  • "There are times when Still Crazy's plot takes a grim turn, but the film is basically intended to be uplifting. Comparisons to The Full Monty are warranted. Although no one takes their clothes off in this movie, there are similarities in tone and approach. Like Peter Cattaneo's Oscar-nominated film, Still Crazy uses music and humor to illustrate universal issues of the human condition - namely, the need that everyone has to make his or her lasting mark, and the fear that such a goal is unreachable." - James Berardinelli (Reel Views, 1999)
  • "Substantial behind-the-scenes talent (from musicians including Jeff Lynne and Mick Jones) went into a set of songs for the resuscitated band, who eventually squirrel up the nerve to board a tour bus and take their show on the road. Still, they sound tepid, leaving the film one more wistful note where a laugh would have been more welcome." - Janet Maslin (New York Times)
